Collection: Squirts and Drizzle
My Squirts and Drizzle paintings are non-representational abstract, usually with contrasting colours. They have all been painted from the heart, nearly always with no pre-conceived ideas as to what those blank canvases are going to turn into. For me, they show several different things going on concurrently. A big appeal of abstract art to me is allowing the body a free hand in the creative process. Abstract Expressionism is characterised by the impression of spontaneity, but most paintings require some planning, even if it's mainly in the selection of colours or palette. And even my most spontaneous paintings are usually tweaked in a deliberate way, often in the later stages - but these Series 7 Squirts and Drizzle paintings merely evolve, organically, over a few days or a number of weeks. Thanks to Jackson Pollock for the inspiration!
